Singapore trip

Day 1

Woke up at 5.30am AGAIN.

Reached Ting En’s place by 6.45am. We’re supposed to be there by 6.30am but we’re late. Reason? Su Fang reached my place only at 6.30am, AS USUAL, she’s late again. Finally I get to meet Rainbow and her mate after tons of gossip about them. They’re Ting En’s dogs by the way. Very nice of Ting En’s mom, she drops us at the hotel opposite KL’s Citibank main brunch. So, we don’t have to take LRT with our luggage!!

We took AeroLine to Singapore. Nope. AeroLine is not a new air plane, but a bus. Travel to Singapore by bus is not that bad. At first I’m quite worry about the long hour travel idea. I rather take a plane. But, this is a budget trip. We won’t be spending much on ride and accommodation. But we spend more on food and shopping. Grand Singapore Sales!!! However, this ride ain’t cheap either. It cost me RM160 for two ways. Of course, compare to plane, it’s still cheaper. After I step into the bus, I take back all my words. The bus is gorgeous. It’s like a miniature air plane. Comfy sits personal table, foot rest, adjustable sits, and entertainment. After everyone had aboard, there’s this funny announcement that I hardly could catch it. “Welcome to AeroLine. I’m your cabin crew XXX. Your driver will be Mr ZZZ. We will be reaching our destination by approximately 5 hours. Later will serve Light breakfast. Washroom is available at the lower deck. Thank you.” During the whole ride, we’re served with breakfast (pastry, bake bean and sandwich), cakes, drinks and unlimited mineral bottle water. Not long later, the bus stop at one of the rest station and we of course went to toilet to do our big business due to the washroom in the bus only for small business. On the way to Singapore, we watch Fun With Dick And Jane. This is a good movie. I watched a thousand times and I still don’t get sick of it. Serious!!

We arrive at Singapore, Vivo City to be exact, by 12noon and we went for lunch at Singaporean all time favorites, Sushi Tei. Sushi Tei is a higher class version of Sushi King. Food there ain’t that nice and we have to line up for it. We’re starving and we still holding on our bags!!! But I do agree that the view there is brilliant. We can see Sentosa Island from the restaurant. After food, what are we going to have? Ice Cream!! We went to Ben & Jerry for ice cream. I like the settings there. Their theme is cow and the sits are cow’s breast!! It’s so fun. And the ice cream is really yummy.

For accommodation, Ting En will be staying at his cousin’s place; Su Fong will be staying at her aunt’s place, while Lai Kwan and I will be staying in the living room of Mei Yan’s place. Yes, we save up hundreds!! But, everyone still is working when we arrive. So we place our bags at Su Fong’s aunt’s place and we off to Orchard Road.

About dinner time, we meet up with Ting En’s cousin who is a stylist. He’s holding twenty thousand worth of LV, Channel and Burberry. But that’s for his job. Not his. We went for Korean food. Not really nice. KL’s Han Kook Kwan better. Than, Mr Stylist bring us to shopping. So, Lai Kwan and I was like okay, lets see who’s shopping skills better. Yours or mine. And guess what, he bring us to MNG. Damn, MNG having sales okay. I will not enter MNG under normal circumstances, don’t mention during sales, time where everyone crazy snatching stuff like as if it’s free. So I end up entering the shoe shop next to MNG. Lai Kwan gives a roll eye look to me and she went in to try her luck on a new jacket. I though she enjoy it. It turns out that she hates it. And she went in and follow Mr Stylist due to respect and ‘give face’. Now I understand her ‘roll eye’ looks. Sigh… Stylist pulak.

Day 2

Lai Kwan and I wake up very early, ahead of the planned schedule. Why? We went to Far East Plaza ourselves. For? Food of course. We went for Taiwanese Mee Suah and fried chicken. Olala… yummy!! Then we shop!! I got myself 3 pairs of shoes and a black dress. Then we went China Town to meet up with others. Ting En bringing us to buy trading price stuff. But, it seems more expensive to me. So I bought nothing. Than we visit Su Fong’s aunt’s boutique and did some window shop at this don’t know what plaza. We did a lot of shopping. The whole afternoon!!

we later went home to change and shower. Mei Yan, Lai Kwan and I were bitching about others when we’re home and done with everything. We try on everything we bought and laugh at the stupid Singaporean movie that’s showing on the TV. We than realize that we have no shoe for our dress and we’re going Café del Mear later. So, we went shopping before meeting up with others. Guess what, I got myself two pairs of heels AGAIN!!! Yippee!!!

After meeting others, we wonder around the whole mall searching for nice food. At first, they planned to visit Sushi Tei AGAIN, thanks god that the queue is so long, or I’ll die. I just don’t think Sushi Tei worth 2nd visit on the same trip. Anyway, we end up having Brazilian barbecue buffet. That place called Herbivore. Sound cool? The setting is as cool as the name as well. And so is their food. It’s the best fancy restaurants I’ve visit during my vacation at Singapore. I highly recommend this place if you readers happen to visit Singapore. Instead of we walk to the food like those traditional buffet ways, those food walk to us. Not literally, those Brazilian looking waiter bring those food, walk to table by table, and slice the meat in front of you if you nod to him to showing that you wants that food that he’s serving. We consume so many type of meat. They even serve chicken heart. At first we dint know its chicken heart. We’re like a table of sakai just release from the jungle. When the masculine waiter brings out the chicken heart walk from table to table, we’re looking at the meat with drooling looks. We even kind of discussed about it. Some says it was chicken testis and some says it’s chicken tongue. But every time when the waiter is about to approach to our table, the table before us took it all, when we are about to give up, one of the waiter walk to us and ask if we want any of the food that his about to serve. We look up, it’s the chicken testis!! However, Su Fong asked Mr Waiter what’s that chicken-testis-looking thing, thus, Mr Waiter tells us in very unfamiliar English slang, “its chicken heart. Chicken heart.” Well, I did not try any of it!! It makes me feel sick. As if eating a chicken’s life!! Well, I LOVE CHICKEN but not chicken’s heart. After all the stuffy and yummy meat, we had fondue. And it makes me wanted to sleep. Cause every time I’m over loaded with food, I’ll felt super sleepy, but not this Saturday night. We have all well planned!!

Like I said, the night still young. We took monorail from Vivo City to Sentosa Island. Everyone says my shoe very nice and I’m so happy with it!! When we reach Café del Mear, it totally took my breath away. Yes, 7atenine is a very nice bar for time being, but Café del Mear is something that you cant get back in KL. Café del Mear is a beach side bar. You can choose to be located indoor or besides swimming on the sun bath chair or at the beach on the queen size bed near the sea. We choose the last option. And we drank Champaign. Me being human for 19 years, this is the very first time I try Champaign. Red and white wine, fruit wine and beer is common for me, but not Champaign. The wind there is just nice, their music blasting from the music tower and there’s two cute guy playing the fire stick thingy. We took a lot of pictures but not with my camera. It’s with Su Yan and Ting En. They did not send the pictures to me. So too bad for you readers.

The ultimate scenery of Sentosa Island
ME!!!! and my black dress that make me look fat. Wait, i AM fat!!

After Café del Mear, they plan to go Zouk. But they changed their mind after stepping onto the last monorail at 12 midnight. They said they’re too old to go clubbing, so we went home to sleep instead.

Day 3

Not much, we went shopping for the entire day. Su Yan bought a Prada, Ting En bought 2 Burburry ,Lai Kwan bought a Fendi for mommy and I bought a dress.

Look at the queue. Singaporeans love queue up for everything.
include LV, MNG and doughnut.

After shopping, we went massage. Mei Yan bought this stack of coupon from the shop months ago and it’s expiring soon, so she gave it to us. She went to meet up with her boy friend after we had tea together while Su Yan, Lai Kwan and I went to massage. When we’re happily enjoying my foot massage, Mei Yan called and brings us her good news. Her boyfriend proposed to her!!! So, they’re engaged!! Can you imagine, one months ago, he get her a Fendi as a appreciation for her being such a nice girlfriend and now bringing her to the jewelry shop and ask her to choose a ring and proposed!! So, they’ll be getting married by 2009. Their planning. They meet each other since college and they start seeing each other for almost five years already. Anyway, that guy is really, seriously cute. He looks like Kun Sang Wu, the Korean actor that Lai Ming crazy over.

Back to my massage. This massage center is a very small but cozy place. The masseuses there mostly are blind, half blind, retarded or old retired people. My masseuse is a blind girl call Li Er. She’s very nice and she speaks soft fluent English. She’ll make sure her strength is okay for me by listening to my breathing. And the fees are just moderate. It’s not so expensive. Everyone can effort it. And it makes a living for the needy. I like this place. I like the idea. And I like the masseuse.

Li Er and my pair of fat huge legs.

After massage, we walk pass this Japanese ice cream stall with wasabi flavor ice cream. The ice cream machine looks like a green shit. However, we stop by and tried some. I took sakura and Lai Kwan took green tea. Than, I saw this banner whiting “wear a yokata or kimono and get free ice cream”. So I was wondering, is there anyone wear a yokata or kimono out for shopping, in this hot sunny country? I think not.

Me and the shit looking ice cream machine.

After massage, we drop by Su Yan’s place to say hi to her parents. They invite us in and I finally get to meet the 3 smart birds of Su Yan’s dad. Su Yan’s dad made us tomato soup, toast, Jelly and fresh juice for our late dinner. And I finally get to meet the legendary brother of Su Yan’s. He claim that he look like Leo Ku. The truth is, NOPE. Anyway, Su Yan’s dad drives us back to Mei Yan’s HDB.

Back in Mei Yan’s place, after shower, Lai Kwan and I start packing while chatting with Mei Yan. Guess what, both Lai Kwan and Mei Yan were discussing about their ideal wedding. As usual, Lai Kwan wants a garden wedding and a reception with no kids. While they were talking about it, secretly I think, what would be mine? No idea. May be when I’m old enough to think about than only I’ll know.

I doze to bed so that I could wake up earlier tomorrow to do final packing. I heard Lai Kwan saying that she only sleep by 5am. She’s insane.

Day 4

I over slept and only wake up by 10am. Gosh, I need to pack.

Lai Kwan cooked a pack of Korean nissin noodle for our late breakfast, just in case we have no time for lunch.

We reach Vivo City by 1pm and we went for last minute shopping. We manage to get daddy a present. The ‘creative’ Crocodile shop attendance is so funny. First, I’ve start laughing at his outfit than we’re laughing at the way he wrap dad’s gift. He wraps it in a very ‘creative’ way. All the ribbons and wrapper and cards and paper bags. Ahahahahah…. It makes me laugh again. Lai Kwan end up stuffing the box into the hand luggage and ruin his ‘creation’. We than bought Lai Ming her iPod cover that she’d wanted to get for so long.

We finally feel the hunger by 2.30pm. We’re supposed to be at the harbor by 3. So we end up having fast food. Not McD nor KFC. It’s American Pizza. Lai Kwan ordered a pizza hamburger. It sound weird and it look weird too. And that’s why she ordered it. So, it ends up being sucky. It’s just normal bun with ketchup, mix pea and cheese as the fillings. King’s pizza pastry is 10 times better.

On our way back to KL, the same cabin crew serves us. So, we had Nasi Brani for dinner, watermelon and drinks. And it show The Break Up. This is the second time I watched this movie, but each time it’ll make me fall asleep towards the middle till the end. It’s just boring. After The Break Up, Su Fong asks for more movies from Ms Cabin Crew, so she load Friends last season, last few episode. Now, I’m dying to download Friends last season.

Thus, my Singapore trip ends by stepping out the luxury bus.

Please, anyone that’s going to Singapore, bring me along!!!

Love,

Nichole @ Lai Yin
